Fertility Service

Fertility services encompass a range of medical treatments and procedures designed to assist individuals and couples in achieving pregnancy. These services can include initial assessment and diagnosis, fertility preservation, various treatment options, and counseling services.

Importance:

Fertility services play a crucial role for individuals and couples who may have difficulty conceiving naturally. They can provide options and assistance for those dealing with infertility issues, those who wish to preserve their fertility for future use, or for same-sex couples or single individuals who wish to have a child.

Types of Fertility Services:

  • Initial Assessment and Diagnosis: Includes a comprehensive fertility evaluation to determine potential causes of infertility.
  • Ovulation Induction: Medication is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce more eggs.
  • Intrauterine Insemination (IUI): Sperm is directly inserted into the uterus during the ovulation period.
  • In Vitro Fertilization (IVF): Eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryos are then transferred back into the uterus.
  • Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI): A single sperm is injected directly into an egg to facilitate fertilization, often used in cases of severe male infertility.
  • Egg or Sperm Donation: Used when a person’s own eggs or sperm cannot be used for conception.
  • Surrogacy: A woman (the surrogate) agrees to carry a baby for someone else who will become the baby’s parent after birth.
  • Fertility Preservation: Methods to save or protect eggs, sperm, or reproductive tissue so that a person can use them to have biological children in the future.
  • Counseling: Psychological and emotional support throughout the fertility treatment process.

Who needs it:

Individuals or couples who have been trying to conceive without success for a year (or six months for women over 35), those with known fertility issues, those who wish to preserve their fertility for future use, and LGBTQ+ individuals or couples wanting to have children.

When to see a doctor:
